    Supervisor: Early Childhood Director
    Term of Employment: Teacher Work Contract + 15 days
    Salary Classification: Teacher Salary Schedule plus supplemental stipend at daily rate

    Job Summary: To provide professional development and mentoring to early childhood teachers for the continuous refinement of instructional practices and implementation of curriculum and instruction and fidelity to Quality First practices and assessment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    • Mentors new early childhood education and early childhood special education teachers.
    • Mentors early childhood staff in adherence to Quality First components including ECERS, CLASS and the Point Scale tools.
    • Provides professional development for assessment of students using state defined assessment tool.
    • Provides professional development to align and implement instructional practices in early childhood classrooms using data from the state assessment tool.
    • Mentors early childhood staff on implementation of early childhood curriculum.
    • Conducts individual instructional sessions related to the planning and implementation of effective instructional strategies and changes to the environment for the success of all students.
    • Mentors teachers on behavior management strategies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
    • Knowledge of Early Childhood Assessment tools – ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale, CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) and Point Scale.
    • Knowledge of Arizona Department of Health Services Child Care Licensure regulations.
    • Skill in working with adult learners and the ability to articulate early childhood best practices.
    • Knowledge of early childhood instructional techniques.
    • Knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid Arizona teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education, AND a minimum of three years teaching experience in an early childhood (0-8 years) setting.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license.
    • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
    • May be required to work outside normal working hours.
    • May be required to travel to perform work functions.
