    Job Summary: The MET Professional Academy instructor will facilitate learning opportunities in MET Engineering and Innovation courses. The instructor will assist students in mastering content and skills that will contribute to their educational development and post-secondary readiness. There is also a significant emphasis on providing students with opportunities to cultivate 21st century professional skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and leadership.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. ?Other duties may be assigned:
    • Instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated
    • Use an integrated approach to teaching and learning to develop interpersonal relations, career development skills and technical knowledge associated with functions essential for the 21st century learner
    • Maintain accurate and complete records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
    • Guide the learning process through the use of clear established objectives, toward the achievement of district curriculum goals
    • Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis, and provides progress reports as required ? Strive to implement through instruction and example, the district’s philosophy of education
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by use of professional development and externship activities
    • Perform other duties as assigned or required
    MET PROFESSIONAL ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR ROLE
    • Deliver course curriculum in collaboration with post-secondary and industry partners following Peoria Unified School District and dual enrollment curriculum
    • Attend staff meetings and participate in the MET Professional Academy Professional Learning Community (PLC)
    • Facilitate student growth in the following areas:
      • Profession-based learning utilizing authentic project-based learning strategies through collaboration with business and community partners to prepare students for post-secondary success
      • Self-discovery and exploration of potential professions by exposing them to career pathways and mentors within these career fields
      • Professional skills development, offering unique experiences allowing students to cultivate transformative skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, time management, public speaking, collaboration and leadership skills
      • Entrepreneurial mindset, creating an innovative culture where creative thinking and problem solving are encouraged
    • Continually augment knowledge base with up-to-date industry information provided by business and post-secondary partners
    • Introduce guest instructors, speakers and/or mentors or provide access to leaders and professionals within MET industry strands

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of appropriate teaching strategies and methods ? Knowledge of enhanced classroom instruction and delivery of curriculum
    • Ability to provide advanced critical thinking, employability, applied academic, life management, and leadership skills for drafting occupations
    • Ability to provide instructional leadership ? Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate in oral and written form
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A college degree is required (BA/BS) with a master’s degree preferred. Teaching experience in engineering, industrial design OR two or more years in the field of study, or any combination of skills and education to reach the equivalent amount of education and experience desired. Must hold a secondary education certification issued by the Arizona Department of Education and a valid IVP fingerprint card.

    PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: ? All minimum qualifications ? 3 years teaching experience in an engineering related field ? 3 years industry experience in an engineering related field ? Highly qualified to teach mathematics and/or physics

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Specialized teaching assignments may require additional training and/or certification ? Must be highly qualified according to state and federal stands to fill the position ? Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check ? Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license ? May be required to work outside normal working hours ? May be required to travel to perform work functions ? May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds
