    Salary Classification: Hourly, Grade 14

    Job Summary: To ensure that students, district personnel and premises are safe and secure; to maintain order; to enforce district policies; to respond to all incoming security calls according to established policies and procedures. Employee must have good communication and customer service skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    • Provide support beyond school day hours with 3rd party rental groups and individuals to ensure safe, effective and proper use of the fields, buildings, performance spaces, and technical equipment
    • Patrol district premises to ensure safety and security standards are met.
    • Check field security, locking of buildings, gates and performance spaces.
    • Evaluate emergency situations to determine appropriate response to ensure safety of students, staff and property
    • Assist schools in high crisis situations; provide or recommend appropriate emergency responses
    • Assist law enforcement personnel and other public agencies in carrying out their functions as they may relate to school environment
    • Interact with students and parents to assist administrators in the enforcement of all school district regulations and state laws including attendance statutes
    • Work hours may vary with adjustments made to benefit the operational needs of the district.
    • Prepare documentation to convey information and/or written support
    • Maintain vigilance and assist in crime prevention on campuses and sites
    • Assist bus driver with bus security and discipline problems; ride school bus as needed
    • Assist with extracurricular events as needed
    • Regular and on-time attendance required
    • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
    • Maintain school districts’ equipment properly, including to help renters open and close facilities
    • Visit school locations to perform scheduled safety assessments utilizing checklists
    • Perform follow-up inspections for compliance with District policies
    • Ensure proper signage is displayed and legible.
    • Check permits, rental contracts for proper renter on grounds.
    • Notify unauthorized persons to leave school grounds if not permitted or deemed unsafe.
    • Perform a wide variety of clerical tasks including typing, filing, coding, and preparing reports.
    • Receives inquiries by phone or in person and gives out appropriate information
    • Cover for other staff members who are absent.
    • Be flexible and perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor.
    • Follow district policies as outlined and keep all emergency plans updated.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    ? Basic understanding of general safety principles and procedures
    ? Knowledge of the principals of customer service methods and techniques.
    ? Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
    ? Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
    ? Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the district.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED, and three years of relevant work experience, preferably in a school setting or law enforcement capacity, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
    • Must possess a valid AZ driver's license and a good driving record.
    • May be required to demonstrate fluency in English: written and oral communications.
    • May be required to lift, push, pull or carry heavy material weighing up to 35 pounds.
