Peoria Unified is the fourth largest school district in Arizona with 34 elementary schools and eight high schools. We are extremely proud of our award-winning athletic programs and Unified Sports programs. If you love sports and want to be a positive mentor to students, we encourage you to apply for a coaching position in a school community that you can be proud to call your own.
Our Hiring Process
The first step is completing an online application where we will carefully collect your information online and conduct a background check.
For the safety of our students, Peoria Unified employees are
required to possess and maintain
an active Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card upon hire. This card
belongs to you and will require
renewal every (6) years. For more information and how to obtain
a fingerprint card, please
visit the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) here:
You may also contact our Human Resources department for guidance.
Once the campus administrator reviews your information, they may contact you to further discuss your qualifications and interests as well as set up future appointments.
Next, you may be invited to an in-person interview where peers along with site leadership can learn more about you. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet future colleagues and take a tour of your campus.
Successful volunteers and coaching candidates will receive an offer from Human Resources with details about responsibilities and compensation.
Once the background check, interviews, and offer of employment are completed, Human Resources will schedule a New Hire paperwork session to notarize and complete your employment or volunteer paperwork. Once New Hire is complete, Human Resources will inform the school site that you are cleared to coach, volunteer, or support the school athletics in whatever capacity you are selected for.

Here’s Why Our Coaches Love Working Here
My transformational purpose in coaching is to empower athletes to be champions on and off the court by instilling toughness and developing them as leaders. I coach basketball as a vehicle used to fulfill this purpose.Mark Wood I Boys Basketball Coach, Liberty High School
My student/athletes are not just incredible athletes they are fabulous human beings.Brett Stafford I Coach, Ironwood High
Coaching in the high school setting has given me the opportunity to work with students in an environment that allows them to strive for greatness in not only their sport, but also in their life. I have seen my players grow in their skill and in their character. They have inspired me to not only be the best coach I can be, but the best teacher, wife, and mother that I can be because of the motivation our team bestows in each other. It is truly a magical gift.Lacey Perdomo | Coach, Raymond S Kellis High School
I like coaching at Cactus because of the students. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing how far they have come in their sport and watching them cross the graduation stage as a young adult.Audrey Hawthorne | Head Varsity Track Coach
The Cactus community and sense of family is why I love coaching at Cactus High School.Joseph Ortiz | Head Varsity Football Coach
