    Job Summary: Teachers will help students learn subject matter and skills in an online learning environment that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    • Maintain, design, and deliver online assessments, projects, assignments, and any course related materials and resources while ensuring all content aligns with state/district standards
    • Updates course content ensuring that all changes are aligned to state/district standards and to Quality Matters online course design standards
    • Communicates extensively with students, parents, and counselors and shows written or electronic evidence of that communication at the request of the supervisor
    • Offer weekly virtual synchronous support sessions for students to ask questions, get individual support, reteach lesson/concept, etc.
    • Assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
    • Demonstrates competency in using data from assessments and other data sources to modify content and to guide student learning
    • Knows the primary concepts and structures of effective online instruction and is able to create learning experiences to enable student success
    • Understands and is able to use a range of technologies, both existing and emerging, that effectively support student learning and engagement in the online environment
    • Assists in planning, designing, and incorporating strategies to encourage active learning, application, interaction, participation, and collaboration in the online environment
    • Promotes student success through clear expectations, prompt responses, and regular feedback
    • Models, guides, and encourages legal, ethical, and safe behavior related to technology use (e.g., Acceptable Use) and upholds district wide rules/policies governing student conduct
    • Cognizant of the diversity of student academic needs and incorporates required accommodations into the online environment (e.g., 504, IEP’s)
    • Interacts in a professional, effective manner with colleagues, parents, and other members of the community to support students’ success
    • Maintains a positive and nurturing online environment that is developmentally appropriate and conducive to learning
    • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of district curriculum goals
    • Strives to implement, through instruction and example, the district’s philosophy of education
    • Maintains accurate and complete records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
    • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the regular instructional day when such encounters are required or requested under reasonable terms and as directed in the eCampus Guidelines and Procedures
    • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required

    • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of appropriate online teaching strategies and methods
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
    • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications

    • Must hold a current teaching certificate issued by the Arizona State Department of Education and be highly qualified in the course subject area
    • Must have taught the course at least one semester in a face-to-face environment
    • eCampus College Prep English Honors course must be offered as dual enrollment. Teacher must be currently dual enrollment certified and will be expected to complete additional training with Glendale Community College to offer eCampus course as a dual enrollment.
    • Must have taken Moodle I and II courses through District’s IMT Training Center or have comparable technology ability
    • Must have internet access at home to check course and email students
    • Must be a contracted PUSD Teacher
    • Required to work outside regular contract hours for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms
    • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license
    • May be required to travel to perform work functions
