    Job Summary:The Executive Director of Community Education is responsible for the overall strategy, planning, implementation to support programming in the areas of early childhood education, KidZone, Family Resource Centers (FRC), summer camps and enrichment programming and any additional programs that meet the mission and vision of community education and the Peoria Unified School District. This includes working collaboratively with leaders who support learning and teaching to support instructional requirements, recommending new or revised policies and procedures, leading program development, building and maintaining internal and external partnerships and supervising staff.

    The person who fills this position should expect to grow professionally and adapt as new projects and deadlines arise.

    Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Leads the strategy and implementation of the district’s early childhood learning and before and after-school programs, including support for community and developmental preschool standardization and quality control, ensuring best practices and the adoption of preschool curriculum and resources.

    • Serves as a liaison to external programs and partners that support community education programming in the Peoria Unified School District.

    • Manages a process to support early entrance screening for incoming Kindergarteners.

    • Provides oversight and manages the grant and resources to support Peoria Unified’s Family Resource Center.

    • Researches and recommends new programs, including expansion of services where appropriate, to support enrichment for students that support the learning environment.

    • Plans, implements, and evaluates all summer programming and camps.

    • Actively works with local, area, state and national organizations with ties to community education.

    • Cultivates relationships with local business and professional service providers to provide opportunities for collaborative programming and new partnerships.

    • Develops and maintains department budget, evaluates staff and community education leaders and leads business model for financial solvency.

    • Meets all requirements and maintains compliance under the Department of Health Services and serves as signatory for licensing.

    • Works cooperatively with all local agencies, including the Arizona Department of Education, the Department of Health Services and First Things First.

    • Assists in writing and implementation of grants and works with business staff on writing of grants to help us fund special projects or programs, where appropriate.

    • Maintains positive relations and communication with students, parents and the community.

    • Communicates with campus administration, district departments, parents, and community effectively and is accessible to district administrators throughout the workday.

    • Works collaboratively with appropriate district leaders on safety plan for related programs and services.

    Preferred Requirements:Master’s (M.A.) in Early Childhood Education, Education, Leadership or related field AND three (3) years of leadership experience in related field, experience in public sector preferred.

    Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid government issued ID

    • Student-centered; our team makes decisions based on what is in the best interest of students

    • Must be passionate about public education with a growth mindset

    • Must have excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills

    • Must be a self-starter with strong attention to detail

    • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office application and the ability to use other technologies as tools to advance the work of the department

    • Must maintain confidentiality and follow all applicable laws related to HIPAA and FERPA

    • Must have an understanding of district policies and procedures

    • Must be available full-time, Monday through Friday, but may include holidays and weekends or occasional early mornings/late evening hours when required to assist with special programming or events

    • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 35 pounds

    • May be required to travel to perform work functions
