Open Until Filled   Additional Information: - Provides support to teachers and staff in the understanding of gifted delivery models and current research, and evidence-based practices
- Assists teachers with implementation of PUSD curriculum and approved supplemental resources, that meet the instructional needs of advanced and gifted learners
- Develops and provides ongoing professional development to teachers and building staff with a focus on instructional best practices related to advanced and gifted learners
- Conducts coaching cycles with teachers relative to their use of evidenced-based practices and the integration of technology to enhance student learning
- Provides assistance with adherence to state/district policies and procedures for coordination of assessment, identification, and placement
- Analyzes data in order to enhance student learning outcomes
- Provides assistance with adherence to state/district policies and procedures for coordination of assessment, identification, and placement processes
- Assists school administrators with efficient, effective scheduling of district approved gifted delivery model under the guidance of the Gifted Coordinator
- Communicates regularly with the Gifted Coordinator on the progress of programs, services, intervention and practices
- Attends and participates collaboratively in Academic Services and Gifted Department meetings
- Actively participates in professional development activities that are provided by the district and/or by professional development organizations
- Promotes parent involvement and supports events for gifted and talent pool students
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
- Knowledge of curriculum, gifted teaching methods and strategies, and essential elements of instruction
- Ability to conduct an instructional coaching cycle
- Ability to build relationships that support teacher development in response to individual needs of teachers
- Ability to recognize training needs in program areas and to implement professional development
- Demonstrate ability to design creative, efficient scheduling for student services
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications including a strong experience and knowledge base with all Microsoft365 applications
- Ability to analyze assessments, curriculums, instructional plans, and data
- Encourage and facilitate a positive work environment incorporating cooperation, pride, and trust
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license
- Must be able to travel to multiple work sites within a day
- Must be able to obtain a full Gifted Endorsement within 2 years
- May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- May be required to work outside normal working hour
- May be required to travel to perform work functions

Position Title: Gifted Strategist
Department: Academic Services - Exceptional Student Services
Supervisor: Gifted Coordinator for Academic Services
Term of Employment: Teacher contract, Plus stipend, Plus Additional Days (paid daily rate)
Salary Classification: Certified Salary Schedule
Job Summary: The Gifted Strategist will provide support, coaching and mentoring to classroom teachers, site gifted pullout teachers, and self-contained gifted teachers for the continuous refinement of gifted instructional practices and district approved instructional models. The Gifted Strategist will support district-wide efforts to increase gifted and talent pool student performance including assisting with gifted identification/assessment, efficient scheduling, providing professional development, and promoting parent involvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid Arizona teaching certificate, have a minimum of three years teaching experience with gifted students OR any equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Gifted Endorsement is highly preferred.
