    Position Title: KidZone Associate - Part Time

    Supervisor: KidZone Program Facilitator

    Term of Employment: 12 Months

    Salary Classification: 7

    Job Summary: Our early childhood KidZone department is seeking qualified applicants to bring their positivity, creativity and innovation to the classroom! Help our kiddos learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their overall development. We need your unique talents to help engage children in various subjects and activities.     Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    The following responsibilities tie into our strategic plan to include Student Success, Safety and Wellbeing, Stewardship of Community Resources, and Community Connection. We believe these four areas help us remain focused on Peoria Unified’s vision: Every Student, Every Day, Prepared to Shape Tomorrow.

    Student Success – Manage and educate children while helping them discover and fulfill their potential
    • Assist site supervisor in planning and implementing a variety of hands-on, engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for children
    • Open and close the campus and classroom as directed by campus administration
    • Ensure site and activities are prepared prior to children’s arrival, and all substitute information in case of an absence
    • Provide consistent communication and maintain positive rapport with families
    Safety and Well-Being - Cultivate a creative learning environment and maintain a safe, inviting, and nurturing space for children, staff, and the community
    • Supervise children and maintain ratios determined by Arizona Department of Health Services
    • Annually complete a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training per Department of Health Services
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Administer first aid when necessary
    Community Connection – Enhance Peoria Unified’s culture which encourages and strengthens professional relations with co-workers, vendors, children, parents, the general public and others having business with the school District
    • Available to children and parents for education-related purposes as required or requested under reasonable terms
    • Foster positive relationships with students, teachers, parents, and community members
    Stewardship of Community Resources – Adheres to effective policies, practices, and accountability of District resources
    • Assist site supervisor in maintaining accurate and complete records required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent with a background in recreation, arts & crafts, sports, education or related fields. Experience with school age children in a group setting. Possess and maintain necessary certifications, such as CPR and First Aid, food handler’s card and Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Must meet staff qualifications for a teacher-caregiver under Section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code. Applicant must provide written documentation of one of the following:
      • High school or high school equivalency diploma & six months experience in child care
      • N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P, or C.P.C. credential
      • Minimum of 12 credits with 6 credits in early childhood and 6 months experience
      • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related filed & 6 months of childcare experience
      • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related field & 3 months of childcare experience
    • Provide documentation of a negative Mantoux TB test
    • Hold current first aid and CPR certification or be able to obtain within 30 days
    • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid government issued ID
    • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds
    • May be required to lift students weighing up to 60 pounds
    • May be required to work outside normal working hours
    • May be required to travel to perform work functions
