Peoria Unified has nearly 4,000 employees and approximately
half of the employees include non-teaching staff that
provide support which is essential to the school district.
Whether you are looking to coach a volleyball team, drive a
school bus, or serve a healthy lunch, every single position
lends to Peoria Unified’s vision of “Every student, every
day, prepared to shape tomorrow.” Many of our positions
offer accrued vacation plus paid time off and you’ll enjoy a
work schedule that includes fall break, winter break, and
spring break. We value all our staff equally and view our
support staff as invaluable employees who contribute to the
overall success of our school district.
The first step in our hiring process is completing an
online application where we will carefully collect
your information online and conduct a background
check.
2 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
For the safety of our students, Peoria Unified
employees are required to possess and maintain an
active Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card upon hire. This
card belongs to you and will require renewal every (6)
years. For more information and how to obtain a
fingerprint card, please visit the Arizona Department
of Public Safety (DPS) here:
https://www.azdps.gov/services/public/fingerprint
You may also contact our Human Resources
department for guidance.
3 Phone Screening
Once the site or campus administrator reviews your
information, they may contact you to further discuss
your qualifications and interests as well as set up
future appointments.
4 Interview
Next, you may be invited to an in-person interview
where peers along with site leadership can learn more
about you. Additionally, you will have the opportunity
to meet future colleagues and take a tour of your
worksite. We want you to be able to make an informed
decision about working here.
5 Offer of Employment
Successful candidates will receive an offer of
employment from Human Resources with details about
responsibilities, compensation, and benefits.
6 New Hire and Onboarding
Once the background check, interviews, and offer of
employment are completed, Human Resources will
schedule a New Hire paperwork session to complete your
employment paperwork. Once New Hire is complete, you
will be invited to return for Employee Onboarding.
During Onboarding, you will receive an overview of the
District, information from Human Resources, Payroll,
Benefits, Public Relations, and more.
Support Staff Salary Schedules
We are proud to offer competitive salaries because we
recognize the value our support staff brings to our
district and community.
I have wonderful memories helping in the classroom and
working with students. Many of them have come to me and
say, “Thank you for all the help, I’m going to pass my
class!”
Ruth Balkom | Instructional Assistant
I’ve driven a lot of students, helped a lot of students,
and so many different personalities along the way. My time
with Peoria Unified has helped me grow as a person. I only
wish I had this experience as a younger adult, because I
think I would have been a much better father.
Leo Norris | Bus Driver
The best part of my job is when you say, "Good Morning" to
a student and they smile back at ya!
Beth Ellenberger | District Bus Driver
After the thrill of retirement wore off, I needed
something to do. Bus driving was something I could do, I
like to drive. Plus, I get weekends and summers off and
paid holidays, can't beat that. I also get to see some
beautiful sunrises!
Neil Short | District Bus Driver
I feel like I make a difference in people's lives.
Watching children grow to become responsible young adults
and feeling like my smile and encouragement helped them
get there… it is truly rewarding.
